School Governing Body

The School Governing Body (SGB) supports the governance of Rhenish Primary School, working alongside the Principal to ensure the school is well-managed, accountable, and aligned with its long-term direction.

Governance and oversight

The SGB is responsible for key areas that support the effective running of the school. This includes overseeing finances and how resources are used, approving policies such as school hours and uniform, contributing to long-term planning, being involved in staff appointments, and helping to ensure accountability.

The Governing Body works within the framework of the Western Cape Education Department and supports decisions that are in the best interests of the school community.

Working alongside school leadership

The SGB works closely with the Principal, who manages the day-to-day running of the school, including teaching, staff, and discipline.

This ensures that roles are clear and that decisions at a governance level remain connected to what happens in the school each day.

Representation and involvement

The SGB is made up of elected parent representatives, educators, a non-educator staff member, and the Principal. This brings together different perspectives from across the school community, while keeping responsibility clear.

Parents are encouraged to stay involved and to raise any matters through the appropriate channels when needed.
