Sport at Rhenish
At Rhenish Primary School, sport and extra-mural activities are an integral part of a child’s holistic development. Our philosophy is centred on mass participation, where every child is encouraged to be involved, discover their interests, and develop a lifelong love for sport and physical activity.
While healthy competition has its place, our primary focus is on enjoyment, growth, and personal development. Through a wide range of sporting and extra-mural opportunities, we aim to create an environment where learners feel confident to try, learn, and belong. At the same time, we strive to be the best we can be at every level of ability. When competition arises, we approach it with purpose and pride, supporting a high standard of sport while maintaining a strong focus on process, effort, and performance over results.
Our programme is underpinned by the core values of respect, curiosity, perseverance, belonging, accountability, and community. These values are lived out on and off the field, as learners develop not only their physical skills, but also teamwork, resilience, and character.
At Rhenish, we believe that sport is for everyone – and that positive experiences in these formative years lay the foundation for active, healthy, and balanced lives.

Learning through sport
Sport provides valuable experiences that extend beyond physical activity.
Through regular participation, learners learn about teamwork, discipline, commitment, and how to work towards shared goals. They also learn to navigate both success and challenge in a supportive environment.
A balanced approach
At Rhenish, sport is part of a broader, well-rounded school experience.
While achievement is recognised, the emphasis remains on development, enjoyment, and being part of something bigger than the individual.
Sport offers learners the opportunity to stay active, take part, and build meaningful connections as part of the school community.
